Workshop on water conservation held at Kinder School

Dewas. A workshop on water conservation was organized at Kinder Higher Secondary School, Dewas. The keynote speaker was an ecologist and a member of the United Nations IUCN. 5 Commission members of the Commission Dr. Sunil Dubey from Udaipur Rajasthan, Dr. Shekhar Sarbhai Soil Scientist and Retired Technical Director from Soil and Land Use Survey of India, New Delhi. 

Block Education Officer of Dewas Ajay Solanki and School Director Hemant Verma were also present on the occasion. In the workshop, Dr. Sunil Dubey taught that the responsibility of water conservation is not only of the municipality or the government, if we have to save water, then the water of the house has to be stopped in the house and the water of our school in the school.

For this, he got the children to make a percolation system in the school and explained in detail how water is conserved in it. Giving information on tree plantation as well, Dr Sunil said that today we see that we are paying attention only to beauty and due to this, many foreign species or in correct words invasive species are being planted, due to which our native species are being harmed. He gave information to the students about many such species and told them the way to identify them by using technology correctly. He also informed the children about how a tree should be planted and how deep its pit should be.

Dr. Sunil explained in detail how Google Earth and Note Cam app are used for survey work. On this occasion, soil scientist Dr. Shekhar Sarabhai, who came from Delhi, discussed the methods of identifying soil and measures to prevent soil erosion. Ajay Solanki, Block Education Officer, on this occasion congratulated Kinder Higher Secondary School for this initiative and expected that the children will take this work forward. School Director Hemant Verma, while honoring the guest scientists, assured that the measures suggested by the scientists for environmental protection and water conservation will be spread to different parts of Dewas. The program was conducted and coordinated by Himanshi Verma and Swapnil Verma. Principal Vinod Patel expressed his gratitude.
